Leaving Austin Won’t Wait to Chase the Night in ‘Too Late’

Emerging country trio Leaving Austin won’t wait a second more in the premiere of their hot-blooded new track, “Too Late,” reaching for love before time slips away.
Arriving exclusively on Sounds Like Nashville today (April 30), the sleek and sensual track brings a late-night connection out of the shadows. Comprised of Austin Machado, Davis Forney and Michael Stevens, the California-to-Nashville transplants step boldly into the all-consuming vibe of being drunk on love-at-first-sight, fusing organic instruments with a danceable rhythm, soaring vocals and a take-life-by-the-horns spirit.
“It was our first write with two of our now friends, Nate Cyphert and Will Weatherly, and we definitely wanted something that was uptempo, but a little edgy, too,” the band explains. “The melody and vibe of ‘Too Late’ got us all instantly hooked! The energy in the writing room that day definitely translates into this song. It’s the story of two people being at a party they don’t want to be at because all they want is to get away and chase the night together. We’ve all been through that. Sometimes you gotta say it before it’s too late.”
“It’s too late / My mind’s already out the door / There’s no way / I can stay here a minute more / Every second that we miss is / One less chance we get to kiss / Baby I just gotta say it all before / It’s too late,” goes the heart-pounding chorus.
Meanwhile, that insatiable pull seems to come alive in the song’s official lyric video. Also making its world premiere above, it’s a simple but effective clip that lets viewers imagine themselves as the getaway driver in their own romantic heist.

“With the lyric video we wanted to keep the dark yet high-energy vibe, so we went the Ryan Gosling Drive feel,” they say. “We are so excited for y’all to hear this song and everything we have coming for 2020!”
After moving to Nashville from the West Coast just a few weeks ago, Leaving Austin are about to embark on a whole new journey. Their 2019 EP, Southern Gold, pulled in digital streams in the millions and included stand out tracks like “Nothing But You” and “She Can,” and there’s more new music in the works.
