Is President Trump's ‘Iron Dome’ even possible?

President Trump has vowed to build a US 'Iron Dome,' using advanced tech to shield against foreign threats, inspired by Israel's defense system.

For more, former Obama Administration Official, Professor Peter Loge joins.

President Trump has fired the gun, so to speak, on a new era of US defense. He has pledged to build America's very own iron dome.

Yeah, the President is taking a page out of Israel's book and aims to use technology to shield the United States from foreign threats.

For more, former.

Obama administration official Professor Peter Loage joins us live from Washington, d C. Great to have you with us. So what message is President Trump trying to send to the rest of the world here.

That America is strong? It's fear she can't attack us. Don't mess with us with a big kit on the bluck.

So talk to us about this dome. It sounds expensive and difficult. Is it possible?

Oh?

Probably not. The Iron dealm in Israel's and outgrowth of the ballistic missile defense system. In the eighteen eighties, President Reagan declared that he's going to build ballistic missile defense. A poker league got called star Wars. US has a network of interceptors for low level accidental launchers. Something will cover the whole US and work one hundred percent. It's just not going to happen.

Some of these executive orders are going to take some time to implement this one particularly, will he be able to do it.

Again? I doubt it. I mean, he can steer a lot of defense money towards systems or already in development. He can accelerate other development. It will mean further militarizing space, create a space race in space. Even if he could create something that could stop intercontinental ballistic missiles across the entire US, even just a continental US that leads us vulnerable to some relaunched missiles, dirty bombs, viruses, all sorts of other things. This wasn't a great idea in the nineteen eighties, and it's really not a great idea in twenty twenty five.

One of the big concerns a lot of people have is something he keeps talking about on another issue, whether he would run for a third term. Do you think that is possible?

He certainly means it, right. He says he's joking. The President has a history of saying stuff, and when he is called on it, says it's just joking. When it works, he said he meant it all along. I have no doubt that he means it, and a lot of his supporters would like it. I believe that one state of legislator has already introduced legislation to make that happen. I'm skeptical. I'm not sure that a lot of people who want to be president in the United States, which means Donald Trump has to stop being president. So I'm not sure there's a lot of incentive for a lot of his political opponents, even in his own party, to go along.

Okay, Patilage in Washington, do you say thanks for you, Tom
