Diversity, equity, and inclusion remain important priorities for GW and the Elliott School. As the University has taken important steps to create a more inclusive community, the Elliott School has also taken crucial actions toward this goal.
University Land & Labor Acknowledgement
Every community owes its existence and strength to the generations before them, around the world, who contributed to their hopes, dreams, and energy to making the history that led to this moment. Some were drawn to migrate from their homes in hopes of a better life, some were brought here against their will, and some have lived on this land for more generations than can be counted.
Truth and acknowledgement are necessary in building mutual respect and connections across all barriers of heritage, culture, identity, and difference.
We acknowledge that we are joining from the ancestral homelands of the Piscataway, Anacostan, and Nacotchtank Peoples and a place where Black people were enslaved, forced to work for free, and abused. It is critical that we name and understand the painful history of enslavement, genocide, and forced removal from the space, and honor and respect the many diverse people still connected to and responsible for creating, building, and giving us this land.

This annual virtual conference, hosted by George Washington University's (GW) Elliott School of International Affairs, Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, and GW Law, offers opportunities for you to learn from and network with leading scholars and policy experts in the field of domestic and international affairs. Through this interactive program, students outside of the George Washington community work in small teams to develop policy recommendations and further explore careers in public policy and international affairs.

Inclusive Excellence Week is an intentional conference of events centered around advancing understandings of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Elliott School. Each year, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) convenes a committee to determine a theme and organize programming, panels, workshots, and community spaces focused on inclusive excellence.

The Elliott School's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council (DEIC) organizes events that examine current and historical issues and topics in the Elliott School community, primarily those which examine the intersection of diversity, equity, inclusion, and international affairs. This includes events that support the institution's larger commitment to diversity and support of annual cultural heritage celebrations.

Elliott School students are service-oriented, civically-engaged, and internationally–minded. Elliott Launches Fund to Increase Access and Promote Equity
An innovative initiative at the Elliott School provides significant new resources for students, advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in international affairs education by increasing access for students with financial need.
The initiative, the Elliott Equity Fund, is in line with GW University’s commitment to excellence and affordability. The fund, which the school will grow through philanthropic contributions, will help foster an inclusive academic environment, further efforts to diversify the student body, and ensure that students can reach their full potential.
