A 32-year-old man has been taken into custody after a bank robbery Monday morning in Tifton.

Tifton Police Department Sgt. Daniel Ray says that a robbery occurred at South Georgia Banking Company in the 700 block of West 2nd Street in Tifton.

The Tift County Sheriff's Office, Department of Natural Resources K-9 unit and Tifton police all responded to the call.

Ray says that a search of the surrounding area was done and 32-year-old Randy Angelo Hill was located hiding in a nearby drainage ditch.

Hill was taken into custody and is being held at the Tift County Jail and is being charged with armed robbery, with other charges potentially pending.

Sam McCard, Executive Vice President with the bank said that bank employees handled the situation well.

"Our folks did a really good job of following our robbery procedures... the guy came in and came out very quickly" added McCard.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
