For this installment of the “Why Tennessee” series, we introduce to you Leslie Smith, president of the Memphis Entrepreneurship-Powered Innovation Center (EPIcenter). The EPIcenter is one of the entrepreneur centers that LaunchTN oversees in its statewide network.

The EPIcenter is a collaborative and community-wide strategic initiative led by Memphis Bioworks that is helping entrepreneurs conceive, launch and scale businesses in the Memphis region.

Prior to moving to Tennessee, Smith previously served as the president and CEO of TechTown Detroit as well as the director of business acceleration for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

In this video, Smith discusses how her past work led her to Memphis as well as what sets Tennessee apart in terms of being a leader in entrepreneurship.

This video is part of LaunchTN’s new outreach series “Why Tennessee,” which uses video storytelling to promote the start-up, entrepreneurial and business climate of our state.
