South Side Museums Form "Museum Campus South"
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Seven museums on the South Side have banded together to try to raise their profiles, and get more people to visit them.
The Museum of Science and Industry, the DuSable Museum of African American History, The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, and four others have formed what they're calling Museum Campus South.
"The purpose of MCS is for us to take advantage of our proximity as institutions," said Dr. Carol Adams, president and CEO of the DuSable Museum.
She said, nlike the museum campus near downtown, you cannot see each of the South Side institutions from the other, but said "we are close."

As a pilot program, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in August, a free shuttle service will be offered between the seven institutions.
"This shuttle will make access to all of our institutions easy and free. This is a pilot, and if people respond, we'll work together to have it continue," said Celeste Adams, president and CEO of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust, which runs the Frederick Robie House in Hyde Park.
Celeste Adams also said the museums are going to "make an impact on the cultural map of Chicago, and we want to introduce ourselves to new audiences from around the city and beyond."
The museums received a $30,000 grant to launch the pilot program.
