Despite this negativity, Down For Love shot into the platform's top 10 shows in its first week of release.

It was also successful in achieving its aim for some of the cast, with Leisel Shepherd and Brayden Pettigrew still together, since the 2021 filming.

The aim of the series was to 'showcase the joys and challenges of finding love while breaking down stereotypes and promoting inclusivity.'

Nevertheless, there is still plenty of negativity around the name, with someone putting it rather strongly saying 'Netflix [is] going to HELL' for the pun.

Similarly, another said: 'Whoever came up with the name ‘down for love’ on netflix, you going ta helllllllllll.'

One viewer alleged some double standards, saying: 'The fact people lost their minds over Netflix letting comedians make jokes about trans people, but are totally cool with letting Netflix name a dating show about people with Down's Syndrome "Down For Love" is wild to me.'

However, there were also Netflix users who saw less of an issue with the name, instead focusing on the season's 'wholesome' qualities.

One such Netflix user tweeted: 'Down for love on Netflix is so sweet omg I’ve been cheesing this whole time.'

And another said it is their 'favorite show of 2023' with another adding it was 'exactly the wholesome happy my heart needed.'
