Going back to school has never been easier. Auburn’s College of Engineering Graduate Online Program offers courses leading to the degree of Master of Civil Engineering with an emphasis in pavement engineering, bringing our expertise directly to you. Ranked 15th in U.S. News and World Report’s 2018 Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs, this on-campus equivalent combines traditional instruction with modern delivery methods to offer graduate degrees beyond Auburn's campus.

Online courses include Pavement Design, Advanced Pavement Design and Rehabilitation, Pavement Management, Pavement Sustainability, and Pavement Construction. Students can access the lectures online through a live feed or at their convenience via streaming video. Additional courses such as Asphalt Mix Design and Production and Advanced Asphalt Materials Characterization may require a week-long lab during the semester at NCAT. Courses in areas such as concrete materials, geotechnical, engineering, transportation, and other related subjects are also available online.

The program is structured to advance the working engineer’s knowledge and skills in the rapidly changing field of pavement engineering. Pavement engineering courses are taught by Auburn’s outstanding civil engineering faculty including Dr. David Timm and Dr. Ben Bowers, and NCAT research professors Dr. Nam Tran, Dr. Adriana Vargas, Dr. Carolina Rodezno, Dr. Mike Heitzman, and Dr. Buzz Powell.

The Master of Civil Engineering degree does not require a thesis. Students have up to six years to complete 30 semester hours of online graduate-level classes, which may include a three-credit hour civil engineering project.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar field from an accredited institution and must take the GRE prior to entering the graduate online program. Engineering students who hold a bachelor’s degree or post-baccalaureate degree may apply as a non-degree student for personal development, to obtain certification or recertification, to pursue a graduate certificate, or to take a limited number of courses prior to enrolling in a graduate degree program.

An online application should be completed at least 60 days before the semester starts. Additional submissions are required, including a statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation, GRE scores, and college transcripts. Non-degree applicants must submit an application and official transcript showing the highest degree earned. For more information, visit http://eng.auburn.edu/online/graduate-programs/index.html.
