A good word picture can help me understand my own heart and humanity better than anything. As a word person, I geek out when a good metaphor comes along, and the Mississippi floodplain has become a beautiful, multi-dimentional metaphor to help me understand my journey with anxiety and depression. When I look out from my own story, it also helps increase empathy in me for people caught in generational poverty, systemic oppression, or anyone subject to the floods. About the "Girl in the World" series - "Historically when Troy has tried to get me to make videos, I have been resistant. I guess I always think I have more urgent things to do.
