🌊 Just launched: "United Seas for Resilient Reefs: A Blueprint for Coral Conservation Through International Cooperation" — a new whitepaper dedicated to galvanizing regional action for coral reef conservation and resilience. Co-authored with an incredible group of scientists and conservation experts from around the world, this paper highlights the urgent need for transboundary action to support coral reef resilience in a warming world. Drawing on lessons from the Red Sea and Caribbean, we outline practical, science-based strategies to scale action at regional and global levels. 📍 Published by Stony Brook University and The New York Climate Exchange, and adapted from a prior academic paper in pre-print, this version was developed to be accessible to policymakers, practitioners, and anyone working to safeguard the future of our reefs. Key themes: ✅ Coral resilience in the face of climate change, and actions to support resilience ✅ The importance of international cooperation and diplomacy with coral reefs as transboundary ecosystems ✅ The role of finance, science, and community leadership in reef conservation and resilience building ✅ A six-part action framework from global conservation finance to local engagement centered on regional coordination 🔗 Read or download here: https://lnkd.in/ekXGV22d Proud to have worked on this with colleagues across six countries and twelve institutions.
