Bluebell Excellence in Advocacy Award

This award is for an individual advocate working directly with domestic violence survivors in Colorado.

This advocate demonstrates a deep understanding of the root causes of violence, recognizes the connections between domestic violence and other forms of oppression, and tailors their advocacy to address these connections when working with survivors. They see survivors as individuals with diverse and varied needs, promoting autonomy and self-empowerment and using innovative practices to support survivors’ healing and thriving. This person balances their advocacy work with their own self-care, community connections, growth, and healing.

When nominating an advocate for this award, please describe how they meet the above description.

"Why the bluebell?"

There are two species of bluebell in Colorado, existing across several habitats around the state. Bluebells feed several species, including deer, elk, and bear. Bluebells also attract and support pollinators including bees and butterflies (a well-known symbol of domestic violence awareness). Just as bluebells exist all across Colorado, so too do great advocates, who support survivors and spread domestic violence awareness year round.
