1 dead, several others injured in Crosby-area shooting, sheriff says

One person was killed and several more were injured Sunday when shots rang out in the Crosby area.

CROSBY, Texas — One person was killed and several more were injured Sunday during a shooting in the Crosby area.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted about it just before 5 p.m. but said the incident happened around 3 p.m. when a gray Dodge Charger pulled into a strip center. He said there were three people in the car and two people who approached it when it got there. The two people got inside and some sort of fight broke out and shots were fired.

The Charger left the scene, according to Gonzalez, and two people who were shot were dropped off at a nearby cemetery.

One of those people was identified by Gonzalez as being a 14-year-old boy who was shot but is expected to survive. The other person who was dropped off was found dead at the cemetery. Gonzalez said investigators believe he's in his late teens or early 20s.

Two other people drove themselves to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions and ages are not known.

No one was taken into custody and authorities said they're searching for the Charger and the people inside. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or the Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Division at 713-274-9100.
