After months of fundraising for a new building, the Elysian Charter School, which was founded in 1997, moved into its new location at 1460 Garden Street in Hoboken on August 17 and school started yesterday.

The state of the art facility, where students from kindergarten through eighth grade attend, boasts a highly student interactive environment – which includes class pets – for starters.

School Director Harry Laub explained the hands on approach at the facility during the ceremony.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer, whose sons Jacob and Alex attended Elysian, said the “incredible school” has a ton to offer their kids, a sentiment she echoed when speaking with Hudson County View.

Additionally, outgoing Assemblyman (D-33) and 6th Ward Council candidate Carmelo Garcia issued a proclamation for the state to further commemorate the occasion.

Eduardo Gonzalez, the Elysian Charter School board president and a council candidate in the 5th Ward, acted as the master of ceremonies and explained the significance of the day to Hudson County View.

The ribbon cutting for the school, which has 16 students per class and two classes per grade, saw a major show of support from Hoboken officials.

District 5 Freeholder Anthony Romano, 1st Ward Councilwoman Theresa Castellano, 2nd Ward Councilwoman Beth Mason, 6th Ward Councilwoman Jen Giattino and Councilman-at-Large Dave Mello were all in attendance for the event.

  1. Hey look Beth Mason attended. It’s only council meetings that she can’t seem to make

Please don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way to your new hobby in Virginia.

I give that poor Inn in Virginia 3 months before folding. Deliverables will be delivered!

  2. If those kids want a real education, they would have learned what some of those fools are about and been hit with frivolous lawsuits. That’s the education Carmelo Garcia and Beth Mason could show them.

Who invited those jerks but Eduardo Gonzalez who’s tied to and running with the Ma Russo Crime Syndicate. Way to Sell out the community!

NoMoreCriminalPlease, indeed. LOL! There’s a reason why criminals are attracted to political office. They’ve done studies on sociopaths and and narcissists which Hoboken can certainly attest.
