Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University advanced to the championship match of the inaugural NJAC Tournament in women's tennis with a 5-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden in the semifinal round. The Ospreys swept the doubles and won two singles matches to clinch the team victory.
Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) and
Sarb Devi (Galloway/Absegami) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while
Lily Muir (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) won by the same score at No. 2 doubles.
A pair of freshmen,
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) and
Bella Trimble (Marlton/Paul VI), completed the sweep with an 8-3 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Calimer cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles and Muir blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. With the Ospreys amassing the requisite five wins for the team victory, the remainder of the matches were not completed.
No. 2 seed Stockton will play at unbeaten The College of New Jersey, the top seed, in the NJAC Tournament championship match on Saturday.
