Game Summary
8/19 St. Xaiver lost 3-2 0-1 0-0

The Thunderhawk boys' soccer team fell in their season home opener to the #4 ranked team in Cincinnati, St. X, by  a score of 3-2 on Saturday, Aug. 19th. The hawks went down a goal midway through the 1st half after a St. X striker found space behind the Hawk's back line and finished in the back of the net. Five minutes before the half would end, the Hawks would equalize when senior captain, Jak Birdsong, headed the ball off a corner kick to his teammate sophomore, Eyad Qaqish, who volleyed the ball past the Bomber goal keeper, making the score 1-1 going into halftime.

Three minutes into the 2nd half the Hawks fell behind after a Bomber striker found space behind the back line and pushed the ball past a diving Hawk goal keeper, Ethan Rottenberger, to make the score 2-1. Midway through the half the Bombers would extend their lead after a ball crossed into the box deflected of a Bomber striker making the score 3-1.
The Hawks would respond, adding pressure in the attacking third and then capitalize off a free kick by Birdsong who placed the ball passed the outstretched arms of the St. X keeper, cutting the score to 3-2. The Bombers' defense would hold on for the remainder of the match.
