Galloway, NJ – Five Stockton University men's soccer players received
NJAC all-conference honors for the Spring 2021 season. Junior
James McCombs (Brick/Brick Memorial) and freshman
Owen Kitch (Medford/St. Augustine Prep) were selected NJAC First Team.
Senior
Ervin Gjeli (Hasbrouck Heights/Hasbrouck Heights) was chosen NJAC Second Team while and senior
Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) and sophomore
Sebi Morrello (North Caldwell/West Essex) were NJAC Honorable Mention selections. The five Ospreys led the team to a 3-3 record this spring.
McCombs, Gjeli and Gromitsaris all received NJAC all-conference accolades for the second time while Kitch and Morrello each garnered their first all-conference selection for their play in their first season on the Stockton team.
McCombs earned an NJAC First Team selection after a Second Team nod in 2019. The junior has started all 25 games in which he has appeared on defense since transferring to Stockton. McCombs teamed with Kitch to give Stockton a formidable tandem on defense and help the Ospreys post three shutouts. McCombs also fired three shots this year with two being on net.
Kitch had an outstanding first season for the Ospreys. The 6-6 center back started all six games in the shortened season and was a force in front of the net on corner kicks. He registered seven shots, including three on goal in addition to his stout defensive play.
Gjeli tied for the team scoring lead with a goal and assist for three points, with his goal being the game-winner against Kean on March 17. His Second Team selection goes with his Honorable Mention nod in 2019.
Gjeli has played 58 games and started 38 matches as an Osprey, scoring 12 times with 10 assists for 34 points and five game-winning goals in his career. Over the last three seasons, he started 43 of the 44 games in which he played.
Gromitsaris earned an NJAC Honorable Mention honor at goalkeeper for the second straight season. The senior started all six games and played all 540 minutes, posting a 1.00 goals against average which ranked third in the NJAC and tying for the conference lead with three shutouts.
In three seasons at Stockton, Gromitsaris has played 35 games and started 31 of them, totaling 91 saves, 10 shutouts and a 1.12 goals against average.
Morrello also had a fine season in his first year at Stockton after transferring from Fairleigh Dickinson. The midfielder started all six contests and fired six shots with two being on net in addition to contributing defensively for the Ospreys.
