AUGUST 22, 2016. THE DAY MARY AUDIFFRED STARTED LAW SCHOOL AT LOYOLA UNIVERSITY IN NEW ORLEANS. AND HER JOURNEY WAS A BIT UNIQUE. >> I WAS TURNING 40. I ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO LAW SCHOOL AND DECIDED TO TAKE THE PLUNGE. CHRISTINA: AT AGE 40 SHE BEGAN THIS NEW CHAPTER. SHE WORKED NONSTOP FOR 4 YEARS. NOW AT 44, AUDIFFRED’S DREA BECAME A REALITY. >> THERE WERE TIMES I FELT I COULDN’T DO IT, JUST WORKING A VERY HEAVY, STRESSFUL FULL-TIME JOB AND GOING TO WORK -- SCHOOL AT NIGHT, STUDYING ON THE WEEKENDS. CHRISTINA: SHE SUCCESSFULLY MADE IT THROUGH LAW SCHOOL MAKING HER PARENTS OH SO PROUD. WHILE SHE IS OVERJOYED, SHE LIKE THE REST OF THE CLASS OF 2020 UNFORTUNATELY WON’T GET TH GRADUATION THEY HOPED FOR. >> IT IS DEFINITELY DISAPPOINTING. YOU THINK ABOUT THAT DAY AND WEARING THE REGALIA, HAVING A PARTY AND CELEBRATING THIS HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT. IT IS A LITTLE DEFLATING. HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE T HAVE A CELEBRATION. AT SOME POINT WHEN WE CAN ALL BE TOGETHER AGAIN. NEW AT 6:00. LITTLE DID MARY KNOW. -- CHRISTINA: NEW AT 6:00. LITTLE DID MARY KNOW, HER PROUD PARENTS SAID WHY WAIT TO CELEBRATE? THEY DID IT NOW WITH THIS DRIVE-BY GRADUATION. MARY’S DAD SAID THEY ARE SO HAPPY SHE ACCOMPLISHED HER GOALS. THE NEXT STEP FOR MARY I

Mary Audiffred's law school journey started Aug. 22, 2016.She was accepted into Loyola University's law program and her journey was a bit unique."I was turning 40 and I've always wanted to go to law school. So, I took the plunge," she said.At age 40, she began this new chapter. She worked non-stop for four years and now, at age 44, Audiffred's dream became a reality."There were times I felt like I couldn't do it. Working a heavy, stressful, full-time job and going to school at night, studying on the weekends, and I did it!"Audiffred successfully made it through law school and she made her parents so proud. While she's overjoyed, she said it's unfortunate that she won't get the graduation she hoped for due to restrictions from the coronavirus outbreak."It's definitely disappointing because you think about that day and wearing the regalia, having a party and celebrating this accomplishment. So, it's a little deflating. Hopefully we'll be able to have a celebration at some point when we can all be together again."Audiffred's parents surprised her Tuesday with a drive-by graduation.
