Salute to the Class of 2020: 44-year-old woman graduates from Loyola Law School
Mary Audiffred's law school journey started Aug. 22, 2016.
She was accepted into Loyola University's law program and her journey was a bit unique.
"I was turning 40 and I've always wanted to go to law school. So, I took the plunge," she said.
At age 40, she began this new chapter. She worked non-stop for four years and now, at age 44, Audiffred's dream became a reality.
"There were times I felt like I couldn't do it. Working a heavy, stressful, full-time job and going to school at night, studying on the weekends, and I did it!"
Audiffred successfully made it through law school and she made her parents so proud. While she's overjoyed, she said it's unfortunate that she won't get the graduation she hoped for due to restrictions from the coronavirus outbreak.
"It's definitely disappointing because you think about that day and wearing the regalia, having a party and celebrating this accomplishment. So, it's a little deflating. Hopefully we'll be able to have a celebration at some point when we can all be together again."
Audiffred's parents surprised her Tuesday with a drive-by graduation.
