Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University senior
Meg Murzello (Maple Shade/Holy Cross) was selected to the
NFCA All-East Region Third Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the Spring 2021 season. The left fielder received all-region honors for the second time in her career.
Murzello was one of four Stockton players who started all 28 games this season. She led the Ospreys in hits (31), runs (25), stolen bases (19) and triples (2) while batting .333 with five RBI, four doubles and one home run. Murzello handled all 32 of her defensive chances in the outfield without an error for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Murzello, the Ospreys' leadoff batter, was voted to the NJAC First Team for her play this year. She leads the NJAC in stolen bases with seven more than anyone else in the conference. Murzello also ranks fifth in the NJAC in runs and tied for eighth in hits.
Murzello notched her second all-region nod, adding to a 2018 NFCA East Region First Team accolade. She finished her career with a pair of NJAC First Team kudos (2018, 2021) as well.
Murzello started all 113 games in which she played for Stockton. She ranks third in school history in runs (94) and stolen bases (60) plus ninth in career batting average (.360) and tied for 11th in hits (131). Murzello joined the Stockton team in 2018 as a transfer after playing 40 games and scoring nine runs as a freshman at St. Francis University (Pa.) in 2017.
