Stockton Earns Seventh Straight Win, 16-4

Virginia Beach, Va. – Stockton University (7-0) took the early lead with three goals in a four-minute span and cruised to a 16-4 victory over Virginia Wesleyan (2-4) that was the seventh straight for the Ospreys and kept them unbeaten on the season.
 
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA) scored a game-high five goals and dished one assist for six points. Lucy Sullivan (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) tallied three goals and four assists for a game-high seven points. Eight Ospreys scored at least one goal in the rout.
 
Sullivan, Brianna Robinson (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) and Meduri all found the net within a span of 3:48 to give Stockton an early 3-0 lead. Meduri scored three more times in the second quarter as the Ospreys extended the advantage to 9-3 at the half.
 
Stockton continued to roll in the second half, outscoring Virginia Wesleyan 7-1. Sullivan and Lexie Jackson (Barnegat/Barnegat) each netted two goals while Kamryn Borden (Barnegat/Pinelands) tossed in her first two career goals on the way to the 16-4 triumph.
 
Drew Coxson (Lancaster, Pa./Chatham) paced the defense with five ground balls, three caused turnovers, four draw controls and an assist. Meghan Pellegrino (Somers Point/Mainland) tallied four ground balls and four caused turnovers as she continued to close in on school records for both statistics.
 
Stockton will stay in Virginia and face Sewanee (Tenn.) tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
