Galloway, N.J. - The Stockton University field hockey team qualified for an
NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. In order to be recognized teams must have produced a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2021 semester.
Â
Stockton earned the NFHCA National Academic Team Award for the 11th consecutive year and 16th time in the last 18 seasons. The Ospreys were one of 148 NCAA Division III teams in the nation to qualify for the distinction. All seven NJAC teams made the list.
Â
The National Academic Team Award comes on the heels of several NFHCA individual academic honors earned by the Ospreys and announced over the last two weeks.
Â
Last week, Stockton teammates
Kelsey Andrus (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) and
Rhian Freire (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek) were recognized as NFHCA Scholars of Distinction for recording cumulative grade point averages of 3.90 or higher.
Â
Andrus and Freire headlined a list of 15 Ospreys who qualified for the NFHCA National Academic Squad with cumulative GPAs of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester. O the field, Stockton went 8-8 during a 2021 season that saw eight of their 16 games decided by one, including three that went to overtime.
