Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) was chosen as the NJAIAW Woman of the Year for the Ospreys. Klenk is a three-sport athlete at Stockton who competes in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. She has collected eight career NJAC all-conference honors to date.
The New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women celebrates one honoree from each high school, junior college and senior college in the state. The program recognizes the outstanding achievements of female collegiate athletes in New Jersey. This year holds special significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
Klenk is a two-time NJAC First Team runner in cross country as well as a 2021 USTFCCCA All-Region qualifier and USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual. She finished second at the NJAC Cross Country Championships in Fall 2021 and third when the conference meet was held in Spring 2021 after the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID.
Klenk was named NJAC Runner of the Week once each in 2020 and 2021. She also was selected NJAC Rookie of the Week once as a freshman in 2018.
The senior has earned a total of six NJAC all-conference accolades in track & field. Klenk garnered NJAC First Team nods as the conference champion in the outdoor 1500m in 2021 and indoor mile this past Monday. She also picked up an NJAC Second Team nod in the distance medley relay at the NJAC Indoor Championships on Monday.
Klenk qualified for NJAC Honorable Mention in the outdoor 800m last spring. On the indoor circuit in 2020, Klenk earned NJAC Honorable Mention kudos in the 4x800 relay. During the 2019 outdoor season, she was NJAC Honorable Mention in the heptathlon.
In addition to her success on the track, Klenk is a Health Science major and two-time NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mention student-athlete.
