SUNY New Paltz earns multiple awards for excellence in SUNY-wide communications competition

SUNY New Paltz won a “Best of Category” and five Judges Citation honors in the 2020 SUNY Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) Awards for Excellence, which recognize the best of the best in creative communications, events, photography, writing, advertising and design from across the state university system.

New Paltz: The Alumni Magazine was the winner of the “Best of” prize in the Publication Rendering for Mobile Device category, which recognizes the adoption of a publication for viewing on a mobile device.

The Magazine publication team earns this award less than three years after launching a website to complement the long-running print version.

The Magazine also earned a Judges Citation for Excellence in Print and Design in the Magazine category.

Additional Judges Citations went to:

  • The College’s latest Admissions Lookbook, which is sent to prospective students to provide a detailed overview of New Paltz’s academic and community offerings (Excellence in Print and Design: Multi-Page Publication)
  • Promotional posters created for the 2019-20 Mainstage Production series from the Department of Theatre Arts (Excellence in Advertising: Total Advertising Campaign)
  • The “Stories of One True Thing: Internships Spotlight” campaign, a multimedia project involving design, print, social media, photography, video and writing, featuring New Paltz students talking about internship experiences (Excellence on a Budget: Event)
  • With Great Power,” an article about alumna Shweta Sawant ’19g (Electrical Engineering), who worked with the Village of New Paltz to bring new renewable energy technologies to local water treatment processes (Excellence in Writing: News Writing)
