Paul Gilbert has been named general counsel and corporate secretary of Rite Aid, which operates more than 2,400 retail pharmacies across 18 states.
Gilbert joined Rite Aid in an interim role on May 21 to assist with the company’s virtual annual meeting of shareholders and other governance matters.
“Paul’s experience working with health care providers, integrated health networks, payors and technology solutions will be an asset as we continue to implement our bold RxEvolution plan,” said Hayward Donigan, Rite Aid president and chief executive officer. “We’re excited to add his proven leadership experience and perspective to the team of senior leaders working toward a brighter future for Rite Aid.”

Before joining Rite Aid, he was a corporate health care partner at Epstein Becker Green in Nashville and Washington, D.C., where he also practiced in the firm’s life services and corporate services groups.
Before joining Epstein Becker Green, Gilbert was the executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate governance officer with LifePoint Health in Brentwood, Tennessee, where he served as a member of the company’s executive leadership team and as the company’s chief development officer for almost three years.
Before joining LifePoint in 2006, he was a partner at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis in Nashville.
He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and was selected as a Nashville Health Care Council Fellow in 2014.
Gilbert is an Order of the Coif graduate of Vanderbilt Law School and earned his undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University.
