Sojourner Truth Library launches curbside pickup for books and other materials

SUNY New Paltz’s Sojourner Truth Library is rolling out a new curbside service to help community members safely access books and other materials from its collections.

All students, faculty and staff are welcome to request materials in the Library’s physical collection (including books, media, zines and more), and set an appointment for socially distant pickup.

Patrons can browse the catalog at https://library.newpaltz.edu/. Eligible items will have a link to “Get It” in their catalog records, with prompts to log into your Library account and “Request Curbside Pickup.”

Users will receive a confirmation email when their request has been submitted and received. Please allow 2-3 business days for processing. A separate email will be sent when your items are ready to pickup, with options for scheduling a curbside appointment.

At the designated time, please bring a copy or screenshot of your email confirmation to the Library’s main entrance, and call (845) 257-3714 to let staff know you’re here. A staff member will deliver your materials to you at the entrance.

Items processed through curbside pickup will be checked out to patrons when they are pulled from collections. Items that are not picked up within seven days of scheduled pickup will be returned to collections, and the hold on these items will be cancelled.

Physical course reserves will not be available through the curbside pickup program. Current safety protocols require a three-day quarantine for all loaned items, which makes loans on short-term reserve items impractical.

As always, Reference Librarians are available to assist students, faculty and staff. Contact them using our Ask a Libarian resource or by email at askref@newpaltz.libanswers.com.
