Snoopy's dog house was blue in A Charlie Brown Christmas Special

Released in 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas Special was so unconventional producers were originally worried it would be a flop. They used child actors for all the roles, there was no laugh track, and it had a jazz soundtrack.

Luckily for us, the show was a hit and A Charlie Brown Christmas Special is now the second longest running Christmas special, after Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. CBS immediately ordered more Peanuts specials following the success of A Charlie Brown Christmas Special.

The special had several unique moments. Snoopy's blue dog house was one. Lucy calls Charlie Brown "Charlie" in one scene, something she never does again. And, while there was a Patty in this special, it wasn't the more well-known Peppermint Patty, who wouldn't appear in the comic strip for another year.
