TOGETHER, we IMPACT the people and causes in our community.
In 2017, a group of local women met in Annapolis, Maryland with the idea of creating a different kind of philanthropy in our community. They were passionate about making a significant impact that was both local and transformational.
The inspiration came from a group of similarly-minded women in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2001. Wendy Steele had the idea to promote philanthropy among women and mobilized close friends and business associates to form a nonprofit operating as IMPACT. The concept was simple, yet ambitious: recruit 100 women to donate $1,000 each to fund a grant to a local nonprofit that would transform their efforts and positively impact the community. The birth of this chapter was the catalyst for the now 60+ Impact 100 chapters worldwide.
Leveraging their collective efforts and resources and armed with the success of other chapters, this small group of women in Annapolis created a viable plan of action to create Impact100 Greater Chesapeake.

““As a small business owner, mom, and active member of several nonprofit organizations, I have been able to see the many needs of our community. It didn’t matter how many hours I spent volunteering or participating in raising money or supplies…I was always left wishing I could do MORE. When I learned about Impact100 and the true transformative impact it could have on our community and the various organizations that provide so much relief, support, and resources, I KNEW that I had to be a part of it. As a founding board member of Impact100, I’ve been able to see how the power of collective giving strengthens our community, it inspires me and connects me to others in a meaningful way. I’m so proud of Impact100 and the women who are coming together to make a difference.”
