7 -Day Retreat w/ Stephan Bielfeldt (online & in person)
June 8, 2024 2:30 pm - June 15, 2024 12:00 pm
Our silent meditation retreats are unique, as are retreats offered by Stephan Bielfeldt, as they only happen once a year.
Springwater Center offers a nontraditional approach with no rituals, required beliefs, or assigned practices.
The different aspects of retreat are offered as resources rather than requirements.
Each retreat has an optional daily schedule with meditation periods, a talk by a member of the Center's teaching staff, possibilities for private meetings with teachers and other participants, and group dialogue. The only requirement is to participate in silence.
Retreat fees apply. REGISTER HERE.
Please contact us at info@springwatercenter.org for more information.
Stephan Bielfeldt has been doing meditation work and and holding retreats in both German and English since 2003.
He started working with Toni Packer in 1983, regularly taking part in her retreats in Germany and and in the United States. Towards the end of 1990, Toni asked him to offer private meetings with participants during her retreats in Germany. In 2003, she asked that he lead retreats in Poland and in Germany, and since that time, he has been holding retreats regularly in German and in English, and has also helped to found two meditation groups. Interested people may join the regular meetings of these groups, which bring together people in the north of Germany.
From 1983 on when Stephan first visited Springwater he came almost every year to participate in a retreat. In 2010 he began holding retreats at Springwater and plans to come back whenever he is invited and his time allows it. His daily retreat schedule is similar to the schedules of retreats given by Toni and by other teachers at Springwater, with a talk being given in the late morning, private meetings in the early morning and in the evening, and a group meeting in the afternoon.
“I was most fortunate to have been able to work closely with Toni Packer for so many years. I seek to share with others the experience and insights of those years of meditation work, in the meditation groups and in retreat.”
Stephan lives in northern Germany, near the city of Hamburg.

June 22, 2024 1:30 pm - 3:45 pm
Open Meditative Dialogue and Guest Speaker
|
Following the enthusiasm surrounding this past February's Collaborative Retreat, space will now be available for new voices to speak during the remaining 2024 Online Meditative Dialogues.
The schedule for this online forum is as follows (in ET):
1:30 - 1:55 pm - Timed Sitting
2:00 - 2:20 pm - Guest Speaker
2:30 - 3:45 pm - Open Meditative Dialogue
The Springwater Center Teaching Committee will invite the guest speakers and individuals interested in speaking are encouraged to contact the Committee via email at info@springwatercenter.org with subject: ATTN: Teaching Committee.
Speaking and dialoguing is different from a lecture or a discussion group where we share what we already know. The spirit of Meditative Inquiry infuses Talks and Group Dialogue at Springwater Center with a sense of exploration and discovery, of being open to the freshness of not knowing. Join the program online this coming Saturday, March 30th and experience this for yourself!
All 2024 Online Meditative Dialogues are freely offered. Donations in appreciation, however, are always gratefully received.

Richard Witteman has been leading retreats at Springwater since 2003. He began meditative work in 1971, and was a student of Roshi Philip Kapleau at the Rochester Zen Center for ten years. In 1982 he began working with Toni Packer, and has been part of Springwater Center since its inception. Richard writes,
"Meditation is an invitation to wonder and curiosity. An invitation to soften around our ideas of what life is or should be, and to enter into the fullness of our moment to moment experience. To be here with the same spirit of wonder and curiosity we had as children – allowing everything to be fresh and unknown. Its an invitation to discover for ourselves the miracle of awareness."
In retreat, there is time and space for solitude…to sit together and alone, to walk in nature…to be silent within the rhythms of everyday life…to be here with feeling and sensation, the movement of our bodies, the activity of thought and imagination, the spaciousness of awareness.
There is also an invitation for community…for meeting and inquiring together into our everyday experience…for asking questions and bringing awareness to the social aspects of our lives…as we share the spirit of inquiry and the wonder of presence.
