Julian Petty Joins Warner Bros. Records as EVP, Head of Business and Legal Affairs
Veteran music business dealmaker Julian Petty has joined Warner Bros. Records as executive vice president and head of business and legal affairs, the label announced on Monday.
Veteran music business dealmaker Julian Petty has joined Warner Bros. Records as executive vice president and head of business and legal affairs, the label announced on Monday. Based in Los Angeles, Petty will report to WBR co-chairman and CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck and co-chairman and COO Tom Corson.
Petty arrives at the storied imprint from Nixon Peabody, where he was partner and head of the entertainment practice group. His clients included Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, A Tribe Called Quest, the estate of Notorious B.I.G. and Childish Gambino, for whom he negotiated a one-album license agreement with RCA. Petty’s dealmaking prowess has landed him on Billboard‘s list of top music lawyers for two years running.

Prior to joining Nixon Peabody, Petty was a partner at Fox Rothschild. Before getting into law, the Howard and Fordham graduate was a programming and product integration manager at AOL.
