I want to take a moment to say thank you.
The past several days have been challenging for our entire community. Many of you have been dealing with power outages, difficult travel conditions, and personal disruption at home - while still showing up, leaning in, and supporting Vanderbilt through this winter storm.
I am especially grateful to our colleagues in Vanderbilt University Public Safety and Campus Dining, who have maintained a constant, visible presence on campus throughout this event. Many of you have worked long hours, stayed on campus or nearby, and spent time away from your families to ensure our students, faculty, staff, and visitors were safe, supported, and cared for. Your compassion and commitment in these difficult conditions have not gone unnoticed.
I also want to recognize the many teams working behind the scenes across the Division of Administration - supporting operations, coordinating logistics, providing resources, communicating critical information, and enabling this essential work to happen. These efforts may be less visible, but they are no less vital, and they reflect the depth of collaboration and care that defines our division.
What I’ve seen over the last few days is what makes this community special: people looking out for one another, stepping up when it matters most, and putting service at the center of what we do. I am deeply proud of how our Division of Administration has responded and grateful to work alongside each of you.
Please take care of yourselves and one another as conditions continue to improve. And know that the work you’ve done, in every role, has made a meaningful difference.
