Volunteer with Us

Get involved at the heart of hospice as a volunteer!

Hundreds of volunteers at United Hospice build an incredible support team for our patients and families. Our volunteers provide companionship, relief, cheer and solace, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In return, hospice volunteers experience a deep sense of personal gratification; in fact, many of them say they receive more than they give.

Below are some of the ways you can give back to your community and support the mission of Hospice:

Direct Care Volunteer Support

If you are looking to connect with hospice patients and their families you can offer support as a direct care volunteer. Opportunities include providing companionship, giving a caregiver respite, running errands, pet therapy as well as other services.

All Direct Care Volunteer Support volunteers are required to complete and submit a volunteer application and undergo training.

Non-Direct Care Volunteer Support

If you are looking to support the mission of hospice in a more operational way, you can volunteer as a non-direct care volunteer. These volunteers provide office support, assist with special events, participate on fundraising committees, provide community outreach, and more.

All Non-Direct Care Support volunteers are required to complete and submit a volunteer application and participate in an informal orientation.

Community Service Volunteers

Community Service Volunteers provide service in general areas including building maintenance, grounds keeping or through our Youth for Hospice Program.

If you are mandated to do community service through Rockland County, we can only provide an opportunity during regular business hours to fulfill your service obligation.

Ready To Get Started?

If you are interested in any of the above volunteer opportunities, please get in contact with our Volunteer Department by calling 845.634.4974 or sending a email with the volunteer application provided below to: volunteeropportunities@unitedhospiceinc.org

We understand many of our volunteers have been touched personally by hospice and wish to give back, however United Hospice recommends that you wait approximately one year after the death of a loved one before volunteering to work directly with patients.
