NFL Superstar Emmitt Smith Set to Keynote 2022 Rady JCC Ken Kronson Sports Dinner

January 19, 2022

How ‘bout them Cowboys?!

The Rady JCC is thrilled to announce three-time Super Bowl Champion and all-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith as its keynote speaker for the 2022 Rady JCC Ken Kronson Sports Dinner.

After a two-year hiatus due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Rady’s flagship gala will take place at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Proof of full vaccination will be required to attend.

“After not hosting our event for such a long time, we really needed a keynote who could deliver on all cylinders,” said Al Greenberg, Rady JCC Sports Dinner Committee Chair. “Emmitt Smith is a living legend, and the Dallas Cowboys of his era were unstoppable.”

As a first-round pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, Smith was the cornerstone of the Dallas Cowboys offense for 13 seasons. The eight-time Pro Bowler was the first player in NFL history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in 11 consecutive seasons. He led the NFL in rushing four times, he was the league MVP in 1993, and MVP of Super Bowl XXVIII. His 175 career touchdowns rank second in NFL history.

“And let’s not forget Emmitt also won the coveted Mirrorball Trophy on the third season of the hugely popular Dancing with the Stars television show,” Greenberg said with a smile. “My family watched that entire season.”

Michael Silver and Jason Bonneteau of WPG The Wealth Planning Group as well as Paul Winestock and Dan Childerhouse of RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities are already committed as Co-Title Sponsors for the not-to-be-missed event of the year.

“Paul and Dan at RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities have been incredible supporters for nearly fifteen years now,” said Rob Berkowits, Rady JCC Executive Director. “And with the addition of Michael and Jason from WPG, we are so fortunate to have such incredible corporate leaders who believe strongly in our cause.

Local community members Carol and Neil Duboff are set to be honoured at the dinner in June 2022.

“Carol and Neil are very active members and contributors to both the Winnipeg Jewish and general communities, “said Rady JCC President Ginna Sapozhnik. “The Rady JCC has been fortunate to have the generous long-time support of the Duboff family since its inception.”

The annual event, the largest of its kind in Manitoba, raises funds to enable the Rady JCC to provide scholarships, camperships, and community service programs for those in the community who need them most regardless of financial situation, ability, age, or cultural background.

The evening includes a multi-course gala dinner, silent, live, and rainbow auctions. Individual tickets, corporate tables, and sponsorships will be available in February 2022.
