Biography
David Tan is a Lecturer in Deakin Law School and specialises in analytic legal philosophy. His main research areas are in legal interpretation (primarily linguistic and intentionalist approaches) as well as public law theory. He has published in leading international legal philosophy journals such as Legal Theory, Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence and Ratio Juris.
His approach to legal issues is very much informed by his background in both law and philosophy. Philosophy isn’t just limited abstract questions but has interesting things to say regarding legal concepts that everyday lawyers face such as legal interpretation and causation.
