Facebook leads a workshop for Franklin's female small business owners March 14.

Franklin's female business owners will get recognition and a leg up in an upcoming Facebook Boost Your Business workshop.

"I think it’s great to see how strong women can be in running a small business especially with social media," said Julia Walton Garland, manager at Walton's Antique Jewelry, and a panelist at Monday's event.

In honor of Women's History Month, the workshop will show female entrepreneurs best practices in curating content of the Facebook page, targeting the correct audience, advertising and measuring how people respond.

"I’m just trying to understand Facebook ads and all of the elements of Facebook as far as promoting a business," said Berry Organized owner Julie Berry, who plans to attend the workshop. "I don’t think that there are enough events around that focus on small business owners, and definitely not free ones like this."

U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn will welcome the entrepreneurs, who can network with other business owners. A Facebook expert will present tips and tools, from basic to an advanced skill set.

Representatives of local businesses City Farmhouse, Lee Company and Walton's Antique Jewelry will also share their Facebook journeys.

"Especially when we’re trying to uplift women, we’re excited to have women small business owners speak to how they utilize the platform," said Devon Wardlow, small business policy programs manager at Facebook.

The event is co-hosted by Leadership Middle Tennessee and the National Association of Women Business Owners.
