Alexandra Okeke (pronouns: She/Her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Counselor Academic Residence (CARE) Program, a program that provides mental health services within the Cockrell School of Engineering. Alexandra supports Engineering students by offering individual, group, crisis, and outreach services. It is Alexandra’s goal to guide students in reaching both their academic and personal goals.

Students may receive support from Alexandra in areas related to depression, anxiety, identity, stress management, and addiction. Alexandra also has specialized training and experience in PTSD and trauma-related disorders. In addition, Alexandra encourages students of all identities to reach out to her for support that is culturally competent, inclusive, and trauma-informed. Whether a student is wanting in-person or virtual counseling, Alexandra is excited to provide all students with authentic, intentional and purposeful guidance.

CARE Clinical Services

  • Students may be referred by a staff or faculty member. They may also self-refer by coming by to chat about services.
  • Alexandra will assess student needs and offer appropriate services (e.g. short-term counseling, case management and crisis intervention, groups).

  • Topics vary (e.g. stress management, test anxiety, assisting student in distress)

Belinda Valenzuela (pronouns: She/Her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Counselor Academic Residence (CARE) Program, a program that provides mental health services within the Cockrell School of Engineering. Belinda supports engineering students by offering individual, group, crisis, and outreach services. Belinda’s approach for short-term counseling is SFBT and CBT, with the goal to provide students the most quality care possible within a limited timeframe. Belinda’s counseling areas of interest include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and human development.

  • Students are primarily referred by CSE staff or faculty member. Students interested in learning more about resources to support their mental health can contact Belinda directly by phone: 512-471-3741.
  • Belinda will assess student needs and offer appropriate services (e.g. short-term counseling, resources and referrals, crisis intervention, and groups).
