American Idol alum Colton Dixon returns with “All That Matters,” the first track from the Christian rocker’s third studio album Identity.
“All That Matters” is a first glimpse at a new musical direction for the performer who, according to reps, has embraced the fusion of pop elements with his traditional alternative-rock sound. Think pop, dance and good times.
The season 11 Idol star’s new track drops today, and premieres exclusively on Billboard.com.
Dixon says he’s relaxed and has enjoyed the process of cutting his latest LP. “I think this is the most fun I’ve ever had making an album,” he tells Billboard.
The album and its lead track are shaped by life experience. “Our identity isn’t in our past or our careers It’s not in our successes or failures,” Dixon adds. “Our identity lies in something much bigger than ourselves, and that’s what really counts.”

Identity is due to arrive March 24 and is the followup to A Messenger from 2013 and Anchor from 2014, which both cracked the Top 30 on the Billboard 200.
Dixon made headlines last year when he married his longtime sweetheart Annie Coggeshall and when he returned to American Idol to perform at the series finale. He’s currently appearing on the Winter Jam Tour alongside Crowder, Britt Nicole, Sadie Robertson and others, where fans can hear him play the new single.
