Librarian services continue to be available online for our community.

As the University of Chicago community faces this challenging time, our librarians are online, ready to support students and faculty with their teaching and research.

Ask Us

Through the Ask a Librarian service on the Library’s website, our experts are on hand to assist you via live-chat, phone, or email. Service hours have been expanded to support our users--no matter where they are located. Our subject librarians continue to provide their personalized services via email or phone, as well as Zoom web appointments for in-depth research consultations.

Books, Journals and More

Students and faculty are encouraged to reach out to the Library about online resources needed for research or teaching during this remote quarter. Our librarians will investigate if materials are available in an online format, provide guidance on access, or suggestions for alternatives in the event a text or film is not available. Subject librarians are working closely with the Library’s Reserves and Acquisitions staff, along with IT Services’ Academic Technology Services, to provide course materials through instructors’ Canvas sites.

Instruction

Our librarians can also provide remote library instruction to support your students as they move to an online learning environment. Librarian-led instruction programs on using our digital collections and developing effective online research skills are available via Canvas or Zoom web conference. Request an instruction session for your course.
