TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's soccer team had to settled for a 1-1 tie with Whitworth University after a late goal by the Pirates in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon.
In the 23
rd minute, the Loggers executed three skillfull passes to
Stuart Methner who took the ball to the back of the net from 24 yards deep.
Rhys Foote and
Etienne Polak both made assists on the play.
The Loggers maintained the lead for most of the game, until a crucial goal was made for the Pirates by forward, Dominic Gusman in the 87
th minute to tie the game 1-1.
While Whitworth outshot Puget Sound 8-5,
Ryan Saunders, the Loggers' goalkeeper, made an impressive seven saves to preserve the tie.
The Loggers look for their first conference win at Willamette on Saturday, September 23 at 2:30 p.m.
