Table Captain: Volunteers are needed each spring to invite 5 - 10 of their closest friends, family and/or co-workers to sit with them at their table for our annual benefit luncheon event. This is our flagship fundraising event of the year that pays for our Book Up Summer program. Table Captains are given a fundraising page, and step-by-step help along the way to make their fundraising efforts a success! This is a free to attend event that is fun and uplifting.

Office/Administrative Help: Data entry, project help, good with excel and CRM's. **WEEKDAY HOURS

Social Media/Marketing

Organize an online fundraiser: We provide you with the tools you need for a successful fundraiser.

Host an online book drive: Page Ahead provides you with a book wishlist and site link to share with your friends and colleagues.

Bundle book bags: Volunteers are needed to count and bundle plastic bags for our spring book fair distrubtion. NOTE: This project is for the Greater Seattle volunteers only. All supplies come from our Seattle office.

Create digital graphics/visual media for our new website: Info graphics, interactive maps, turn data into visual images.

Program Committee: Background in early education, interest in research on children's literacy, knowledge of children's books. Group meets monthly.

Take home projects for our programs: Cutting out craft shapes, decorate bookmarks (materials provided). NOTE: This project is for the Greater Seattle volunteers only. All supplies come from our Seattle office.

Book Fair Helper: Between May - June, help the kids in our largest reading program pick out their 12 new books. *DURING SCHOOL HOURS*

Make Bookplate Packets: Done in our office Mon - Fri, or as a take home project. Materials, instructions, example provided. Only available to greater Seattle area residents as materials need to be picked up and returned to our Seattle office.

Book Oasis - Little Free Library Restock: Volunteers pick-up a box of books from the Seattle Page Ahead office monthly. They drive to at least one location to re-stock and report on. Must be comfortable driving. Location of 19 LFL's are in the greater Seattle area.

Story Time Volunteer: For 2024 - 2025 School Year! Read to a classroom of Pre-K or Kindergarten students. During school hours. Once a month minimum. Training and materials provided.

Our volunteer Board of Directors oversees program direction and policy decisions. Board members, who serve for three-year terms, attend monthly board meetings and serve on committees relating to finance, programs, development, executive matters, events, and marketing. Volunteer Agreement *

Volunteers play an important role in helping Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program fulfill its mission. We value your commitment to Page Ahead, and to the children and families Page Ahead serves. For a better understanding of what is expected of you by our organization, we ask you to read and sign the following Volunteer Agreement. *PLEASE CHECK EVERY BOX TO APPLY

Attendance & Time Sheet: I will notify Page Ahead of changes in my volunteering schedule at least 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible. Volunteer hours must be reported to L&I and are used in grant proposals. On-site volunteers: must record hours served at the end of each shift.

Conduct: As a representative of Page Ahead, I understand that I am expected to be courteous and respectful to the public, volunteers, and employees. I agree to conduct myself in a professional manner at all times, refrain from using offensive language and come to all events affiliated with Page Ahead drug- and alcohol-free. I will share any concerns that arise with the appropriate people.

Confidentiality: I understand I may work with sensitive donor information and will not reveal confidential information to unauthorized persons. I understand that this makes my position one of trust and confidence.

Criminal Background Check: I consent to a Nationwide Background Check before my service begins, if I will be working with minors or confidential information.

Dress Code: I agree to wear appropriate attire when representing Page Ahead. My dress will be neat and clean, and is dependent upon my volunteer duties. I also understand Page Ahead is a fragrance-free office, and will refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, scented lotions, etc. while on site.

Inclement Weather: School closures in their home district are used as a guideline for Page Ahead employees when determining their ability to get to work. I understand the Page Ahead office will be closed when the Seattle School District is closed. I agree to take responsibility for notifying any third party (for off-site volunteer opportunities) that may be affected by my absence.

Intellectual Property Rights: I understand all copyrightable material that is conceived, developed, or made by me, alone or with others for Page Ahead is the property of Page Ahead. Intellectual Property may be in any form, including but not limited to written, oral, electronic, digital or other form.

Liability: I am aware that sorting, packing and moving books is a potentially hazardous activity. I acknowledge that the potential hazards include, but are not limited to back injury due to lifting. I agree that I will not pack boxes to exceed 35 pounds. If something is too heavy for me I will ask for help lifting it. I am voluntarily participating in these activities with the knowledge of the danger involved, and therefore agree to accept any and all risks of injury.

Termination: Page Ahead’s volunteers may terminate their volunteer work for Page Ahead at any time. Likewise, Page Ahead may terminate any volunteer’s services at any time, with or without cause or advance notice. It is requested that volunteers inform Page Ahead when they will be discontinuing their efforts, and with some advance notice, if possible.
