A Forum on the Past, Present, and Future of the Bible

Thursday, September 21, 2023 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM

The Morgan Forum is an annual gathering at Emory University’s Pitts Theology Library to explore the impact of the Bible in translation on faith, communities, and culture. This year’s inaugural forum, "re:Wording: the Past, Present, and Future of the Bible in Translation" invites guests to look backwards and forward. We explore the past development of the Bible through the library’s newly established J. Michael Morgan English Bible & Psalmody Collection. We consider the past, though, with an eye toward the future, toward exploring what may come next for a sacred text in our digital age. Through gallery tours, student presentations, panel conversations, and a keynote address, the Forum offers opportunities to learn from leaders in the Biblical scholarship, teaching, and publishing to help us understand what the future holds for the Bible in translation. All events are free and open to the public, though registration is required. We invite you to start your day at 2:00 p.m. and stay with us for all events though guests are welcome to attend any of the events that fit their schedule.
