Patty Gaffney Lovallo, Spirit of Hope Award

Patty and her husband, Joe, have been supporting CCFCS for more than 30 years. Patty served as CFC Board Chair from 2001-2003. She and her siblings played a key role in creating the Gaffney Golf Tournament, in honor of their father Pat Gaffney, the proceeds from which were designated to provide direct support of CCFCS programs and services. Patty received her undergraduate degree in accounting degree from Bucknell University, and her MBA from Harvard University. Her support of other non-profits in the Rochester community include Bivona Child Advocacy Center, Pittsford Youth Services, and the Harvard Business School Club of Rochester.

The Palumbos Family: Marty & Maureen, Father Ed, and their whole family, Partners in Philanthropy

The Palumbos family has had the Catholic Church woven throughout our lives from their earliest days. Their father's youngest brother was a Catholic priest. Ed, Marty, their younger brothers Bob Kevin all entered St. Andrews Seminary in preparation of following their uncle into service to the church. Father Ed recently retired as pastor of Church of Assumption in Fairport after nearly 50 years of service in numerous parishes in the Diocese of Rochester, and is noted for his leadership of the Marriage Encounter movement as well as his work on CFC's Board of Directors.

“From our earliest years, our family was exposed to community efforts and responsibility to see strangers as “friends we had not as yet met.” Ours was an open house where friends were always welcome. This set the attitude of service and care for others early on.” – Father Ed

Marty and Maureen have been supporting CCFCS for over 30 years, and are founding members of our Sustaining Saints leadership giving circle. Marty is a past Board Chair for CFC, and served many years on our Board’s Executive Committee. Marty and Maureen continue to inspire the spirit of hope at CCFCS and at other non-profits, including Keuka College and Saint John Fisher, and have inspired others to join them in making gifts of significant impact in the Rochester community.

Service has been a lifelong commitment of the Palumbos Family. “There is no more deserving organization than one that provides direct service to the poor and most vulnerable in our community while simultaneously advocating for systemic change in the community to address the root causes of poverty.

Ed and I, of course have the most direct connection [with CFC] but for me there is nothing I do that doesn’t have my wife Maureen's support and encouragement. Honoring “the Family” is so appropriate considering “Family” is our middle name at the Catholic Family Center.” – Marty Palumbos
