Dear Vanderbilt families,
Congratulations on joining our Vanderbilt community! We are excited to welcome you and your student. As the vice provost for student affairs and dean of students, I am privileged to take a central role in your student’s learning, development and experience as an undergraduate.
Our dedicated Student Affairs team is committed to fostering vibrant, inclusive communities on campus that enhance a student’s sense of belonging and well-being throughout their time here. Once your student has settled in and established their academic routine, they will have the opportunity to attend the Student Involvement Fair and the Service Fair. These events will introduce them to the hundreds of student organizations we have on campus. Additionally, Diverse ’Dores Day provides a chance for students to connect with a wide range of communities and resources, helping them find their home on campus. Our Student Affairs team is dedicated to guiding them toward meaningful engagement and transformative learning experiences.
Inevitably, there will be times when your student will need additional support while navigating life at Vanderbilt. Our Student Affairs team is here to provide that support. The Student Care Network provides a holistic network of health and wellness resources bolstered by four primary offices, including Student Care Coordination, the University Counseling Center, the Student Health Center and the Center for Student Wellbeing.
Vanderbilt’s health and wellness infrastructure is designed to offer the care, guidance and support for your student to grow and thrive at Vanderbilt and beyond. Please read the rest of this newsletter for more information on all aspects—physical, mental and emotional—of student well-being at Vanderbilt.
Again, we could not be more thrilled to welcome your student to campus in August.
Sincerely,
G.L. Black
Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
