Financially struggling residents in east Winter Garden can find free meals, baked goods and fresh produce once a week at a food distribution site organized by the nonprofit medical clinic Shepherd’s Hope and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

The distribution, at 455 9th Street in Winter Garden, takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. each Thursday on a first-come, first-served basis. The service is drive-up; volunteers will place a supply of food that should last three to four days in each vehicle.

“Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, hardworking families struggled already to pay rent, pay utilities and [buy] food,” said Pam Gould, president and CEO of Shepherd’s Hope, which provides free medical services to the uninsured and under-insured. “During this crisis, we are blessed to have key partners that help people access nutritional, fresh foods.”

Those partners include the Society of St. Andrew, Circles Winter Garden, Poverty Solutions Group, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Solutions and the American Heart Association.

For more information, see the Shepherd’s Hope website or call 407-876-6699.
