The Texicana Mamas are excited to partner with BorderAid, an organization that seeks to empower global refugees and restore dignity to the people most affected by border crises through the power of music and consciousness-raising activism. “On this Mother’s Day, we, the Texicana Mamas, dedicate this song ‘Esperanza,’ (HOPE)to all the mamas who have crossed borders seeking freedom, safety, and a better life for their children,” say the Texicana Mamas in a joint statement. “We are deeply humbled and honored to work with BorderAid and to use our hearts and voices to support this humanitarian effort of love without borders.”
A collaborative effort between three of the state's most celebrated Latina musician'- Tish Hinojosa, Patricia Vonne, Stephanie Urbina Jones. Separately their musical influences include folk, conjunto, Americana, flamenco, country, Tex Mex rock n roll, the Texas singer songwriter tradition, the mariachi, corrido and norteño traditions of the border, and Lone Star country rock. Together, melding these inspirations with their own distinct sounds and personalities, the Texicana Mamas are creating something new, fresh, vibrant and distinct.
The Texicana Mamas are set to release more music later this summer, along with their self-titled debut album in June 2020.
