Growing Forward: One Farm at a Time
St. Luke’s has partnered with Grow Orlando to launch a new 2,000 square-foot Grow It Forward micro-farm at Orlando Baptist Temple in Pine Hills.
Pastor Xavier Small and his congregation caught the vision of bringing fresh affordable produce to food priority areas and helping the community to own their own food system. The crew set the rows and amended the soil to get ready to plant at the end of August.
The Grow It Forward network was awarded a No Kid Hungry grant to start four new farms in 2021. Shepherd’s Hope and Finding the Lost Sheep will also break ground early this fall.
Summer Camps completed their Quest!

During July, elementary and preschool-aged children became Heroes as they participated in camps and learned about the core values of Acceptance, Hospitality, Community, Discipleship, and Service. They participated in activities that included art, STEM, Theatre, Games, Missions, and Storytelling. The children, camp staff, and youth volunteers worshiped together in the morning before heading out to their daily activities. Summer camps are offered to families to provide safe, affordable childcare in a loving environment. Many friends were made. Many heroes were created. Many laughs filled the day!
This month's featured Staff Shout Out goes to St. Luke's Director of Family and Recreational Ministries, Chris Smith!
Chris has facilitated fun, educational, and impactful summer camp experiences for children and families and shared Christ's love with our congregation and community.
Congratulations Chris!
