Fairfield Softball in OHSAA "Final Four"
The Fairfield Indian Softball program has peaked just the right time and earned a coveted position in the OHSAA State Championship "Final Four" by knocking out the Centerville Elks 1-0 in the Regional Finals. Fairfield (23-3) will take on Austintown-Fitch (21-1) in the semi-finals this Friday, June 1st in Akron's Firestone Stadium. Playing an extremely competitive schedule has prepared the Indians well for this timely tournament run. Finishing tied for second place in the GMC with a 15-3 record, the Indians were one game out of first to the Mason Comets who fell to the Centerville Elks in the Regional Semi-Final.

Mason Wins 17th Consecutive GMC All-Sports Championship

Mason Clinches 17th Consecutive All-Sports Championship
Mason High School has reaffirmed its dominance in the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) by winning the coveted 2023-24 All Sports Championship for the 17th consecutive year. Since joining the GMC in the 2007-08 school year, the Comets have secured or shared an extraordinary 212 out of 412 possible GMC team titles.
In the 2023-24 season, Mason captured 15 of the league's 26 titles outright and finished second in three additional sports. This stellar performance brings Mason closer to Princeton's record of 19 All Sports Trophies, a benchmark that has stood since the 1986-87 school year.
Sycamore Avaitor Tennis Seals the Deal at State Championships
The GMC Champion Sycamore Tennis juggernaut continued its winning ways all the way through the state championships by taking down Olentangy Orange 3-0 in the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association State Tourney winning the state team title for third consecutive year.

Along the way, Nicholas Choo (12) and Chase Klugo (9) teamed up to bring home the OHSAA State Doubles championship by ousting Chase Homan and Nihal Narsisetty from St. Xavier 6-2, 6-2.

GMC Track and Field Athletes Turn Heads at OHSAA Regional Meet
As one of Ohio's premeir track and field conferences, the GMC did not disappoint at the OHSAA Regional meet this past week at Dayton's Welcome Stadium. With the top 4 qualifiers in each event earning the right to compete in the OHSAA State Championships next week, the Greater Miami Conference qualified 17 individuals and 10 relays on the girls side of the track while the boys qualified a total of 10 individuals and 4 relays. On a team scoring basis, the Mason girls were Regional meet champions with Lakota West holding down third place. The Mason boys made a strong 2nd place showing as team as well.

DICK'S Sporting Goods Honors GMC Girls Lacrosse
DICK'S Sporting Goods celebrates achievements in Greater Miami Conference Girls Lacrosse. For the 2024 season, Sycamore's Carly Thiel was selected by conference coaches as the GMC "Athlete of the Year". Leading her Sycamore Aviators to an undefeated (10-0) league season, Carly also lead the conference in goals scored with104, narrowly edging out Oak Hills Madison Coster who tallied 103. Thiel also dominated the league by a wide margin in draw controls with 206 and was 3rd in turnovers caused. Carly Thiel has been the class of the GMC for the past three years, earning "Player of the Year" honors for three consecutive seasons.

In a vote of the GMC Girls Lacrosse Coaches, Fairfield Head Coach John Meyer was selected by his peers as the GMC "Coach of the Year". In recogniton of his dedication to the sport and the progress of the fledgling Fairfield program, Coach Myer was honored by his colleagues.
