Hear Vince Gill Harmonize With New Artist Brennin on Clever Ballad
Oklahoma-born Music City transplant Brennin can boast country heavyweight Vince Gill as a fan, having co-written the song “I Can’t Do This” for Gill’s album Down to My Last Bad Habit in 2016. Now he’s releasing a new single that features Gill himself.
“Rip Off the Rearview” is a clever breakup ballad that tells the story of a woman leaving a “two-year version of a one-night stand” behind and never looking back. The pop-influenced track has shades of Sam Hunt, an artist Brennin considers a major influence.
“I’m a huge fan of his because he has opened the door for people like me – I’m not your typical country male vocalist,” Brennin told Rolling Stone Country of Hunt last year.
Brennin was one of Rolling Stone Country‘s New Country Artists You Need to Know in May 2016. He released a debut self-titled six-song EP last February, which featured his first single “Lose My Cool.” Gill, meanwhile, has a history of collaborating with and championing country’s next wave of artists. He currently appears on Chris Young’s single “Sober Saturday Night.”
