Accessible Documents: Word and PDF

If you would like to learn more about creating accessible documents, these trainings are for you!

Part 1: Accessible Word Documents

If you have never attended any accessible documents training before, you should start with this session.  In this workshop, we will cover the basics of creating an accessible document including:
  • Headers
  • Color and contrast
  • Images and alt text
  • Tagging
  • Creating white space
  • Inline formatting
  • Running the accessibility checker
These are fundamentals of document accessibility and need to be understood before moving on to PDF accessibility.  
Option 1: Thursday, July 29th, 10am - 11am
Option 2: Thursday, August 5th, 10am - 11am 

Part 2: Accessible PDF Documents

This workshop builds on the skills and vocabulary learned in the Accessible Word Documents training.  We will look at inaccessible documents that need to be remediated using Adobe Acrobat Pro.  In this workshop, we will cover:
  • Strategies to find alternative digital documents
  • Which documents are good candidates for remediation
  • Running the accessibility checker
  • How to edit out some issues 
  • Tagging items in the document
  • Adding Alternative text
  • Checking the read order
