Stockton Draws with Misericordia 1-1

Galloway, NJ –Stockton University (2-1-1) scored in the 68th minute to pull out a 1-1 draw against Misericordia (2-0-1) on Wednesday night. Owen Kitch (Medford/St. Augustine Prep) tallied his second goal in as many games for the Ospreys.

After a scoreless, tense first half, the visitors broke through for the first goal with just 3:35 gone in the second stanza. Trent Wall fired a volley that hit off the bottom of the crossbar and went in for the 1-0 lead.

The Cougars stayed in front thanks to a diving save by goalkeeper Andrew Daubenspeck on a header by Sean O'Leary (Bordentown/Bordentown) just three minutes after the goal. Stockton earned a corner kick at 67:26 and Antonio Matos (Hammonton/St. Augustine Prep) served the ball into the box toward Kitch, where his header found the upper left corner of the net for the 1-1 tie.

The Ospreys tried to capture the game late, firing off four shots in the final 12 minutes, including a pair by Brendan Deal (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) that were on net but kicked away.

Goalkeeper Liam Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made just one save in the draw. Daubenspeck faced eight shots on goal for Misericordia, making seven saves to aid the team in net.

The Ospreys will continue their four game homestand with a match against Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
