Storied Miami station WQBA 1140 AM is undergoing a revitalization, with a new lineup and new programming aimed at Miami’s Latino community. It will all take effect on Aug. 12, 2024.
A part of the Latino Media Network, WQBA also has a new slogan: “El Pulso de Miami” (“The Pulse of Miami”).
According to a news release, the station will feature familiar community voices, including Oscar Haza, Pedro Sevcec, Neida Sandoval, Jose Alfonso Almora, Julio Cesar Camacho, Liz Alarcón, and José Pérez Córdoba (Carlucho).
“This is an exciting time for WQBA, marking the beginning of a new era for our station. As a trusted source in our community for decades, we are committed to building on that foundation,” said WQBA General Manager Mike Sena. “Our new lineup of talent and programming is designed to provide more representation for Miami’s ever-expanding Latino community, offering a platform where their voices can be heard and their stories told. With our incredible talent at the forefront, we aim to build a deeper connection with our listeners.”
Established in 1967, WQBA has long been a trusted voice for Miami’s Latino community, providing news, sports, cultural content, and entertainment for its diverse audience, with the aim of preserving language and cultural traditions across generations.
According to the news release: “WQBA’s mission is to serve Miami’s Latino community with content that reflects their experiences, addresses their concerns, and celebrates their culture. The new talent lineup and programming are pivotal to this mission, offering more representation and a platform for the community’s voices and stories.”
