Every Friday Is Black Foodie Friday!

Black Foodie Friday Initaive

For The Love Of Food…

That’s why the Black Foodie Friday initiative exists. We want to help foodies like you to find the most scrumptious, gluttonous eats you can devour…and, trust, there are plenty nearby! (We’ll tell you how in a sec.) But, we don’t want you to satisfy your craving for the most delicious delectables from just anywhere. No, no, no! We want you to allow local, black owned businesses to serve it up for you.

…And Support Of Black-Owned Restaurants

Why specifically the small black-owned restaurants, food trucks, caterers and personal chefs? Food has always been a HUGE part of our African American culture. Sunday dinners. Cookouts. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Graduations. Funerals. The reason for gathering is always important but the food—mmm, the yummy dish that only Auntie, Mama and them make or Unc can make right—that is something that helps us to remember the events.

It’s the same for black-owned food service providers. They’re staples in many neighborhoods, helping to support the community—from providing locations for neighborhood meet and greets to being a source of support when times are tough and the neighborhoods need to band together. But, it’s also because, despite being such pillars in our local neighborhoods, many black-owned businesses, especially those with higher operating costs like restaurants were some of the hardest hit businesses during the pandemic.

To be frank, they’re struggling.

And now, it’s our turn to be the ones to step up. Over the years, they’ve been there to support us. So, now it’s time to pay it forward and support them!

How can you help? EAT!

Basically, we want you to do what you’re going to do anyway—which is find awesome places to eat out.

BUT, instead of going to “the usual” spot, choose to start spending those dine out dollars with a local black owned eatery.

We’d love for you to do it every time you eat out, but, at least commit to doing it on Fridays if you’re not whipping up something phenomenal at home because EVERY FRIDAY IS BLACK FOODIE FRIDAYS!

The easiest way to find new black owned restaurants to explore is by joining the Black Foodie Friday facebook group.
